The groom’s class event which is held at Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) gives an opportunity to the grooms to showcase their skills and the quality of their horse care. Grooms bring “show-ring ready” horses to the ring, properly tacked and booted. Recently held on Feb 9, the Groom’s Class event at WEF 2024 was yet another spectacle in the equine world to display their intricate knowledge of horse care in hunter and jumper discipline.
Jennifer Gates, owner of Evergate Stables and one of the known names in the equestrian world, took to appreciate the groomers for their efforts. Through her post, she acknowledged their role in management and handling of horses, to maintain equine health.

The Instagram handle of Evergate Stables, a Coaches & Trainers in Wellington which is owned by Jennifer Gates Nassar and Nayel Nassar, took to appreciate the role of grooms in a heartfelt post. Resharing the original post by WEF, the caption to the Instagram story reads, “We couldn’t do what we do without the grooms! Proud to support this class!”

Through the post, Jennifer Gates took to praise the unsung heroes of the equestrian sport. During the event, grooms are judged on a multitude of aspects. These include the cleanliness and presentation of the horses, the fitting and cleanliness of tack, grooming techniques, along with the overall preparedness for competition. Groom’s Class event is a way to recognize and celebrate the crucial role that grooms play which otherwise gets sidelined in the equestrian sport. Hence, it becomes an important occasion to celebrate their roles and give them due recognition for the same.
WEF announces Groom’s Class event results
The original post by WEF highlighted the presence of the first Groom’s Class at WEF 2024. As the caption mentions, the event was “presented by @double_h_farm, The Gochman Family, and @evergatestables,” during the WEF2024 season which was a success.

The $8,000 Groom’s Class was held on February 9 at Ring 10. The event was open to all grooms, “for both hunter & jumper discipline,” wherein they were judged for their preparedness and skills.
In the hunter discipline, Abel Sanchez and “Hoopla” from Ocean Echo took to claim the top spot among the competitors. In the jumper discipline, Ivan Barraza and “One and Only” from Heritage Farm triumphed in the given class. Cassidy Klein had clicked the photos at Wellington International for the given event.

Hence, this event took to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the grooms, who contribute spectacularly to the equestrian sport.
