It’s the Olympic year and the premier week performances in the equestrian world give a snippet of what holds in the future. A multitude of talented athletes became visible in 2023. Dressage, show jumping, and cross-country athletes have already geared up for the 2024 Paris Olympics. But what makes them the phenoms they are and what goes on behind their athleticism is the real deal.
Popularly known as the equestrian triathlon, the Olympic sport of eventing consists of dressage, cross country, and show jumping. As the athletes compete in their preferred categories, they travel further beyond competition. Especially the U25 athletes who have been making winning strides recently.
Equestrian youngsters come up with New Year plans

USEF Eventing teamed up with the Instagram page of the US Equestrian to bring some fresh talents to the fore. Captioning the post as “New Year. New Emerging Athlete resolutions“, the governing body caught the equestrians shedding light on what changes they want to see in the freshly ushered year. While one said “Something that I’m trying to work on is being ‘chalant'”, the other voiced, “to lower my dressage scores” in a fun tone. “To be less of a perfectionist mentally and to enjoy the process”. Sportswomen with young blood, feeling a rush of enthusiasm and engaging hyperactively, isn’t unnatural. However, the other end has icons who want to be less “laid back” in 2024.

Moving on, the sole male of the roster, Ben Noonan said, “I think it would be to have less of a temper with my siblings and my parents.” The women featured in the clip were Madison Temkin, Alexandra Baugh, Meg Pellegrini, and Maddie Hale. Considering the US’ equestrian abilities, the athletes have reached the zenith in 2023, securing their spots for Paris.

Pan-Am Games was Team USA’s decision making event
Pushing Canada to the silver and Brazil to third place, Team USA soared to victory at the 2023 Pan-Am Games Team jumping event. At the Jumping Nations Cup earlier in 2023, Brazil had already secured a spot at the upcoming Olympics. In the qualification round, Team USA’s performance wasn’t up to the mark. Finishing fifth, the roster had proved their prowess well by defeating Brazil.

“I don’t think people have talked about how competitive the Pan American Games have become, and it’s very stiff competition for all the teams. For us, this gold is just the icing on the cake because our priority was to secure our qualification” the elated U.S. team chef d’équipe Robert Ridland said soon after. Whether the team will make their nation proud is just a matter of months now.
