The grade 1 winner Tapit Trice left everyone astonished when he covered half a mile in 49.90 seconds at the prestigious venue of Belmont Park’s main track. This was done in preparation for the $1 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park which will take place next Saturday. Trained by Hall of Famer and three-time Haskell Winner Todd Pletcher, son of Tapit was a last-out third in the Belmont Stakes on June 10.

The Haskell Invitational was first established in 1968. It is an American horse race where three-year-olds run the track covering a distance of 11⁄8 miles on the dirt. With the $1,000,000 race ahead of him, Tapit Trice is polishing his skills.

In the Haskell, Luis Saez will be riding Tapit Trice. Todd Pletcher stated about the horse, “He just did what he normally does which is work well and gallop out strongly. He was moving great. It was everything we wanted to see.” The showcase race takes place annually at the Monmouth Park Racetrack situated in New Jersey. The three-year-old Tapit is preparing for the upcoming $1 million race at the Haskell Invitational on 22nd July.

In this race, along with Tapit Trice, others like Geaux Rocket Ride, Arabian Knight, Howgreatisnate, Salute the Stars, and Extra Anejo will also be running the field currently at the Monmouth Park’s showcase race. The Kentucky Derby winner Mage hasn’t decided on Haskell yet. According to Paulick Report the decision about the race will be taken by early next week.

Todd Pletcher gracing the race with his presence gives them four Hall of Fame trainers. The other three trainers are Richard Nabdella, Bob Baffert, and Steve Asmussen.  The 56th run of the Haskell Stakes highlights a 14-race card that incorporates the Grade 1, $600,000 United Nations at a mile and three-eighths on the turf. The other three Grade 3 stakes are the $500,000 Molly Pitcher, the $400,000 Monmouth Cup, and the $300,000 WinStar Matchmaker.

Tapit Trice going undefeated in the races this year 

As far as this year is concerned, Tapit Trice is undefeated. He has won all of his races in 2023 which are the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby, and Allowance Optional at Gulfstream Park which are Grade 3 and Grade 1 races respectively. Trice is owned by Whisper Hill Farm also known as Mandy Pope and Gaineway Stable also known as Antony Beck.

The champion became an immediate success after retiring to stud and became the leading freshman sire in North America. With a bag full of winnings and staying undefeated in all the races of 2023, Tapit Trice is all set to be on the top.
