It has witnessed a huge number of horse deaths. Dave Portnoy, who is an American businessman and the founder of the sports and popular culture blog Barstool Sports, mourned the loss of multiple horses in Saratoga. This summer really doesn’t want to be friends with the equestrian community.

The tragedies unfolding in Saratoga are deemed utterly unacceptable by Portnoy and the broader community. In the wake of the deaths of several horses in Saratoga, PETA has taken action, resulting in consequences. The turmoil surrounding the community has left horse enthusiasts unable to remain composed.

Dave Portnoy talks about the tragic incidents in the equestrian world at Saratoga 

With 14 horse deaths this summer at Saratoga tracks, no one is happy about the situation. A 3-year-old Thoroughbred Wisecraken died on 13th August 2023, becoming the 11th horse. Taking the count to 12 was Burning Bright who died at Saratoga Racecourse on 23rd August. And on 26th August, Nobel and New York Thunder became the 13th and 14th horses to die at Saratoga Race Course. The series of tragic deaths has shocked and saddened everyone.

Dave Portnoy one of the biggest horse lovers, who also purchased a horse recently amidst the chaos, has mourned for the loss. He has been visiting Saratoga since he was a kid. He grew up loving horse races and being a huge part of the equestrian community. Portnoy stated that this summer was the worst he had ever witnessed.

He expressed his loss on Twitter, “I love Saratoga. I love horses. This has been the worst summer I ever remember. I’m at loss.” Certainly, being a devoted horse enthusiast and lover, someone like Portnoy would be profoundly impacted by the ongoing incidents. The internet also joined in mourning with Portnoy, acknowledging how deeply tragic the situation is for them as well.

After Dave Portnoy portrayed his feelings about the Saratoga incidents, the internet cried with him. One of the netizens stated, “I’m heartbroken. This is not the Saratoga that I know and love.” Saratoga has long held a place as one of the most prestigious and beloved racecourses for horse enthusiasts. To suddenly witness a series of unfortunate incidents within its confines is undoubtedly a distressing and difficult experience.

Another individual on Twitter commented on Portnoy’s post stating, “It’s been horrific and if it’s like this next year im done.” It’s difficult tp see how heartbroken the equestrian world is. Others continued to shower their grief stating, “It is sad to see. Sad to root for any horses knowing they could be the next casualty.”
