And in the US, California features many major races over its multiple tracks, but these racecourses have also become a graveyard for 23 horses who lost their lives this year to horse racing. 

Eventually, the equine fatalities raised a ton of questions regarding the safety standards in the state and also made many audiences lose interest in the sport. But why is that? Obviously, no one would want to watch these animals succumb to their death while racing, so the decline was imminent. But, since the officials associated with the racing industry in California didn’t take any major step, this made many passionate owners, one of them being Mike Repole, really frustrated, as they also have their own horses racing in the same place.

Furthermore, the American businessman made a promise to the community, stating, “Have faith in me and trust me, I am having tough and blunt conversations and meetings with every high-level, senior executive from tracks, racing organizations, sales companies, stallion farms, etc. I promise you, we are all being heard!!!!!”

Being one of the top horse owners in the United States, Repole has a lot of connections. With the help of those links, he is trying his best to bring changes in the industry that will only benefit everyone involved in it. He doesn’t want to keep any credit to himself, but all of his work is done due to his dedication to the sport, as he just adores watching these majestic animals race healthily. Mike Repole’s warning to the competitor states

Despite being a New Yorker, Mike Repole is more interested in the racing scene in California. Due to his extensive expertise in owning many horses that race in many Grade 1 events, he knows the money that these racecourses generate owing to their popularity and rich history. But as the scene is on a decline due to various reasons, he knew the competitor states would look forward to generating their own revenue out of this.

So, he warned everybody with a serious message, stating, “You’re not a national sport if you’re not in California. It’s not like if California goes, ‘we get more (market) share.’ No, if California goes, you lose. You might win (more business) for another year or two, but long-term (there would be) less and less interest.” If the US state completely abolished horse racing, then the whole industry in the country would be affected, and the owners would have to look towards other countries to race their horses, which is something Repole wants to avoid in the future.
