International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) organizes the FEI World Cup which is one of the most prestigious equestrian competitions apart from the Olympics. The Equestrian athletes compete in various events such as show jumping, dressage, and vaulting to display their horse-riding skills to the world. A win at the competition will make the athlete the best Equestrian in the world.
The first FEI World Cup series was organized only for show jumping events in 1978. And the organization slowly included dressage (1985), driving (2001), and vaulting (2011) into the World Cup series with time. Recently the FEI World Cup finals for the year 2023 were concluded in the USA with 7 countries competing for medals. The event was successful and the host country for next year’s competition was given the host nation’s flag. In 2024, the FEI World Cup finals will happen for the first time in a middle-east country.
Saudi Arabia to host the FEI World Cup for the first time in 2024

The FEI World Cup Finals for various equestrian disciplines will be held in Riyadh in April 2024, according to Arab News. The officials of the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation (SAEF) received the host nation’s flag after the conclusion of the 2023’s US FEI World Cup finals from the 4th to the 8th of April. This will be the first for a middle-east country to host the event. FEI organized the handover ceremony at the end of the World Cup finals,2023, held in Omaha, Nebraska, in the USA.

Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah, the president of SAEF, was proud to take up the responsibility as the first-time host for the event in the Middle-East region. He also took cognizance of the help rendered by the country’s Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal in bringing the prestigious event to Saudi Arabia.
The Winners of the 2023 FEI World Cup Finals
Germany ranked 1 among the countries with 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze, and a total of 9. Most of the gold medals by Germany were achieved in the Vaulting event. German equestrian Jessica von Bredow-Werndl won gold in the dressage event for the second time in a row.

Sweden was ranked second with one gold medal won by Henrik von Eckermann in the show-jumping event. Third in rank was the Netherlands with two silver medals. The USA ranked last among countries with a single bronze medal achieved by Hunter Holloway in the show jumping event.
