Nothing can beat Equestrian events on the ground of thrill and excitement. With its emergence in Ancient Greece, equestrianism has captured hearts and heat alike. Behind the animals, racing to glory, is a village working days and nights for the desired outcome. Moreover, the trainers and jockeys decide the equines’ fate by girding them up with proper training and diet. Recently, one such equine let its trainer decide its forthcoming performances, based on past history.
The $88,442 Constitution Hill specializes in a specific routine. His trainer Nicky Henderson declared that his beloved horse would compete in that routine itself, with six previous victories in its name.

In seven career starts, the six-year-old has clinched six victories in hurdles. This routine, being the horse’s strongest suit, has awarded him a nine-length triumph in last season’s Champion Hurdle as well. Moreover, Constitution Hill has also won the verdict in Aintree Hurdle in April. Jockey Nico de Boinville, owner Michael Buckley and trainer Nicky, had taken a combined decision to do a switch this summer. Even so, they recently determined to keep the horse for smaller obstacles ahead of Champion Hurdle.
Nicky commented, “The news on Constitution Hill is that after a lot of deliberating and a lot of advice from everybody in the world, because everybody wants a piece of this, he is going to stay over hurdles.” He further asserted that this was not a hard decision for him, considering Constitution Hill’s pattern of races. Henderson also confirmed he had schooled the horse for fences, but keeping the Gold Cup in mind was important.
The trainer had strengthened his diction by affirming that Champion Hurdle can’t be beaten. The horse may have participated in Champion Chase, Ryanair, and Arkle, but the prime goal is to aim for the big race. Nicky believed in Nico’s mind, but Constitution Hill’s stamina led them to keep him grounded.

Nicky’s decision affirmed
Nicky said, “For all three of us, the decision was unanimous. You might say why did it take three months, but we all felt it was the right decision.” Dawn Run, the horse that won both Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle, posed as Constitution Hill’s inspiration, but the latter didn’t go down the chase route. The team desires to match the five previous three-time winners, with See You Then in the list as well.
Rocking his calm demeanor, Nicky declared that his beloved horse to too young to break records. So, a slow pace wouldn’t harm. However, he looks forward to bringing his A-game as the horse is turning seven next March. “He’s only had seven races in his life, three in his first year, the two at Sandown and the Supreme and then four last year. We want to run him as much as everybody hopefully wants to see him, moving the International gives us another opportunity.”
