However, for those eagerly willing to take a step into the industry, an equine organization has stepped up to point the direction. 

The equine-centered organization based in Canada recently revealed its initiative providing an insight into the career pathways leading to the equestrian industry. The team consists of industry professionals who offer tips and the number of ways one can set a career in the field. Issuing its showcase the renowned centre shared the exciting number and the various fields. 

A look into the possible opportunities

The Equine Guelph is a university non-profit organization working for the health and well-being of the equines. Located at the University of Guelph, the organization has been working for a decade to offer assistance and training to help learners understand and treat the equines. And taking it up a notch with their practices, the Equine Guelph released an equine career showcase. The presentation, consisting of detailed work helps an enthusiast surf smooth through the options.

According to its study, the showcase lists exactly 78 possible career pathways in the equestrian industry. From healthcare to artisan work, there is a job offering for every skill. Here’s a brief look at the principal availabilities. Starting with the healthcare sector, the options include being a nutritionist, a veterinarian, and a massage therapist among others. While for more neutral options or race track enthusiasts, one has the available options of event manager, security, track announcer, and more. The list further includes the border divisions of marketing and sales, multi-discipline, and horse breeding. Finally, the equestrian industry also has space for artists with creative skills. This includes photographers, artisans, educationists, and charity workers.

The organization however doesn’t just offer a look at the career opportunities. Along with its efforts Equine Guelph also has partnered with other charitable organizations to provide training and required courses. “As visitors to the showcase see the many possible pathways into the horse industry, they can be supported in their endeavors to develop lifetime careers.” Equine Guelph director Gayle Ecker said according to horsetalk. To make its initiative successful, Equine Guelph has received help from numerous entities and associations.

Equestrian organizations lend help to the initiative

Gayle Ecker said that the organization not only aims to educate existing enthusiasts but also to draw a wider audience. And on its path to fulfilling its aim, Equine Guelph has received quite the help from industry experts. Walking its first step, the organization has released numerous videos featuring equine professionals. From former jockeys to Olympic dressage riders, the content induces trips and challenges in surviving the industry and knowing one’s passion.

Guelph received its next assistance in the form of funding and partnership. The Ontario Equine Education and Employment Program whilst providing funding has also partnered with Equine Guelph and VIP Inc. Further, starting in 2021, the partnership has worked to provide training to enthusiasts and has accumulated over 300 students.

Leading the initiative, Guelph has assured the enthusiasts that the billion-dollar industry has more to offer than it shows.
