A few days, a 9-year-old equestrian flaunted her skills which stunned the world. And now, 80-year-old Jean Murphy Ashton from Parsonsfield, Maine, USA, recently proved that one is never too old for a horse ride. Despite the fatal accident that she faced two years ago, she gathered her courage to make one more achievement. However, she was under treatment for a long time before achieving her Century Ride.

Century Ride is a kind of test-performing event that was founded in 1996 at the Dressage Foundation. This Century Ride includes different performing tests of different levels, events, and a show. The specialty of this show is it includes a combination of riders and horses with 100 years or more in total. This year Murphy achieved her Century Ride in Summer Breeze show.

The Annual Summer Breeze Show at the State of Maine Dressage Association was held in Hollis. Along with other talented equestrians, Murphy Ashton stood out with her graceful quine skills with her 21 years old mare. This Dressage requires a lot of training and practice, it also requires good cooperation between the horse and the jockey.

The Vice President of the State Of Maine Dressage Association was amazed by Murphy’s equine skills. He expressed his amusement and told the News Center Maine, “Some of us thought she would never ride again, but here she is in the saddle, on her own horse, at a show she’s competing at, at 80 years old, and her horse is 21 years old.”  Murphy’s graceful equine performance credit also goes to her 21-year-old horse. The bond between Murphy and her horse Geartsje, has been there since since Geartsje was two.

The devastating accident from 2021 caused her several fractures, yet Murphy is willing to ride as long as she sits on the saddle.
