Equestrian riding on the beach is a great way to enjoy the beach along with riding. It is a unique experience of bonding with the horse amid cool and fresh wind coming from the sea. It is also a way to relieve oneself from stress and have mind peace. But, sometimes such a trip may end up being more stressful and dangerous.

Recently a woman went riding on a horse on Berrow Beach. During her riding, the horse stumbled on the sand castle, and the woman was unseated and fell on the sand. She was dragged along the sand before others present at the beach stopped the horse.

Equestrian riders suffer a gruesome accident

On Sunday a woman in her twenties was visiting the Berrow beach from Bath. She was riding along the beach and enjoying her moment when the gruesome accident happened. According to the witness, she fell on the sand after her horse stumbled and “was dragged along the sand” to a distance before the horse was stopped.  She was given treatment on the scene after the ambulance and rescuers arrived. She was later transferred to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Among the rescuers were Berrow’s beach warden, lifeguards, and Burnham Coastguards. Speaking on the incident the Burham Coastguard spokesperson said that as they arrived at the scene,  the lifeguards were already there working on the situation along with an ambulance first responder. The first responder stabilized the patient and was well taken care of. The Coastguards assisted in ensuring that the horse was safely secured after their two team members worked on it. He further said, “Thankfully another beach user was helping until they could get the horse box to them.”

Speaking on the condition of the woman the spokesperson said that the woman had suffered lower limb injuries and they assisted the ambulance crew in carrying the stretcher and loading it into the ambulance. On perfect completion of their task, the spokesperson said, “Hopefully the injuries are not too bad and she is back riding again soon. Good multi-team working as always“. The woman later on appreciated and thanked the entire team who helped her.

Equestrian rider thanks the rescuers

The equestrian rider from Bath, later on, took to the internet to send her thanks message to the team of rescuers. She had a massive thanks to everyone who helped her in those difficult times. She further said, “Luckily I haven’t suffered any serious injuries, just rather sore and not allowed to ride for 6-8 weeks. Honestly so grateful for everyone and the team who got me help so quickly“.

The in-time response from the rescue team was the reason for the proper treatment and successful recovery of the women. The horse was also taken control of and was secured safely.
