The 2023 FEI Eventing Nations Cup Netherlands CCIO4-NC-L, hosted at Military Boekelo-Enschede, was scheduled from October 5-8. This event concluded with a thrilling mix of challenges and successes. Despite being considered “softer” than previous years, the cross-country phase presented formidable obstacles, including a deceptively challenging final fence.

In the midst of the excitement, Laura and her horse Dacapo experienced a day that didn’t quite align with their immense talent. Those who have followed Laura’s journey over the years are well aware of her partner, Dacapo. While he has achieved significant success, including a second-place finish at Aachen last year, he is equally known for his occasional missteps and recently he again did the same.

Recently, Laura Collett shared a Facebook post about the recent event at Military Boekelo and captioned it as, “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed, but I’m also incredibly proud of DACAPO’s performance this week.” Laura Collett’s journey at Military Boekelo-Enschede was marked by pride and disappointment. Riding her 13-year-old partner, Dacapo, they had high hopes for the competition.

In the showjumping round, Dacapo tried his best and jumped beautifully. However, a minor mistake, where he just clipped a toe on the back rail, cost them a higher placement. Despite this setback, Laura and Dacapo finished in sixth place, earning them a well-deserved medal. The British Equestrian Team also had a strong showing, finishing second in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup. Laura further expressed,? DACAPO is a tricky character but seems to really enjoy himself at Military Boekelo ? we will be back?. In her closing words, Laura Collett hinted at their future return to the competition, leaving the door open for more exciting performances to come.
