Dave Portnoy is a massive headline maker in America. For all the good reasons, the internet loves keeping up with his life updates as he mingles beyond his horizons. After Penn Entertainment announced returning 2003-founded Barstool Sports to its founder Portnoy, 100 percent of power returned to him. Rejoined by the flow of events the former and current president of the company took it to Twitter and wrote “I Bought Back Barstool Sports.” He also updated the internet about gifting himself a horse amid racehorse tragedies at Saratoga.

The investment cost him a whopping $650,000, a miniscule for the 46-year-old with a reported $100 million net worth. Following the purchase episode, the iconic racetrack venue underwent another devastating incident which did not sit right with Portnoy.

At Saratoga Race Course this season, 6-year-old gelding Burning Bright became the 12th horse to pass away on August 23. Just a few days back on August 16? a 3-year-old thoroughbred Wisecraken became the 11th equine fatality at Saratoga since May. On the same day, the news came that American philanthropist Adam Weitsman bought a yearling filly with Portnoy at the 102nd Saratoga Sale. Recently, when the death toll reached 13, the longtime summer track devotee took to his Twitter and wrote-

He got emotional and expressed how the news hit home for him since he grew up watching races at the racetrack. For the Taylor Swift die-hard fan, cruel summer seems to be becoming a reality. Additionally, the news came in just days after he purchased his thoroughbred racehorse whom he named WonderGirl Carly. According to Portnoy, the name is a homage to both her dam Wonderment and a popular 1991 video featuring a girl named Carly playing flag football.

The horse has a promising racing pedigree, sired by Gun Runner, the Horse of the Year in 2017 who won the Whitney at Saratoga and has earned about $16 million in his racing career. Interestingly, it was the first purchase made by Portnoy from Barstool on the Saratoga horse auctioneers site on August 8. Portnoy leaves no venture half-worked, the same applies to his equestrian interests.
