Equestrian lovers are always hyped up when the season of multiple races and prestigious horse-racing events is around. The Mars Maryland 5 Star is about to start this week and the enthusiasts couldn’t be more excited. However, the excitement faded away with the news of the withdrawal of a talented horse from the race. This race is an ideal part of the state of Maryland’s prestigious horse and equestrian tradition. It inculcates four days of competition in Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping.
In this race, the highly talented 14-year-old horse named Falco has withdrawn his name because of a major surgery. The equestrian community is not thrilled after this information; however, last year’s winner expressed the situation about the horse and about his withdrawal. He wished the competitors all the luck for the competition.

The extremely talented horse who has attained a double bronze medal has withdrawn his name from the Mars Maryland 5 Star which is going to be held from the 19th of October to the 22nd of October 2023. The rider Rim Price who won this race last year saddled on Coup De Coeur Dudevin stated that he wanted to have him in this race to help him defend his title. However, the surgery is a critical one, and he has to undergo it.

Falco is a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding who won the Pau CCI5*-L in 2021. With this, he also won double bronze medals at the 2022 FEI Eventing World Championships in Pratoni del Vivaro, Italy. Price who withdrew Falco from the race is currently fourth on the FEI Eventing World Athlete Rankings. He is more worried about the horse’s tumor than him winning the race. The horse has had the tumor in his gut or in his tummy for a long time but fortunately, it did not do any damage. The rider expressed everything about the horse’s situation.

Tim Price expresses the situation about the 14-year-old horse
Talking about Falco’s participation in the race, the equestrian mentioned the entire situation to the equestrian community. He prioritized the horse’s surgery above everything else. Races can come annually but this surgery needed to be taken care of at the earliest. Tim expressed, “It was a tumor, not actually colic in the end, a non-malignant tumor, that could have been in his tummy for a long time. I’m not a vet, just a little old horse rider.”

He further said that he gazes at this opportunity as a fortunate one because they were able to find out about the issue before it could cause any serious damage to the horse. However, Falco still needs time to recover which is why he is rested for this year for his recovery. Now, he is happy that he will be coming back with complete passion the next year.
