It is safe to say that the stereotypes are now slowly and steadily washing away. Jena Antonucci is coming up as a great example for women in the equestrian field. She is an American thoroughbred horse trainer and has recently attained the title of being the first woman to train a winner of an American Triple Crown race. She has shaped Arcangelo, a 3-year-old ridgling to victory in the 2023 Belmont Stakes.

Antonucci has shared her views on womanhood and her love for horses in a recent interview with Maggie Wolfendale who is also a Maryland-bred third-generation horsewoman. She spoke to Jena Antonucci about her feelings regarding her achievement and she has opened her heart to Maggie.

Jena Antonucci has become the first female trainer to win a Triple Crown race. Her horse Arcangelo took her to victory in the 155th Belmont Stakes on Saturday. Recently in a video Jena Antonucci and Maggie Wolfendale were seen talking to each other regarding Antonucci’s amazing achievement. She was asked a question about she was feeling about her new experience in the equestrian world.


Antonucci replied to all the questions with utter grace. She expressed, ” It’s a window for other women to see, you may have to work harder, and you may have to do it twice as good and twice as longer.” She further asked all the women to not cut themselves out of the corner and not cut themselves short of integrity. For her Belmont stakes is one of the coolest things she can achieve.

When asked about her passion for horses, with tears in her eyes she expressed, “It’s just them.” She also spoke about Castellano saying that he had never won the Kentucky Derby until last month when he rose Mage to victory and had also not captured the Belmont Stakes until he came up with Arcangelo.

The kind of love she has for all the horses and Arcangelo cannot be explained in words.

Jena Antonucci speaks about Arcangelo and shares her wisdom

Jena Antonucci believes that horses speak all the time. And when asked about what Arcangelo must be saying about the Belmont Stakes, she laughingly stated, “Get out of the way.” She felt completely stunned at the win and expressed, “We’re just trying to soak all this in right now. Just so proud of the horse.”  She believes Arcangelo that he has the heart of a champion, and he is amazing. She further added, “Immense gratitude for this horse for laying it on the line for us.” Jena Antonucci is extremely proud of her trainee and is more than happy.

She gives all the credit to the horse for the win. And gave a piece of advice stating, “Never give up. And if you can’t find a seat at the table, make your own table.” She further added, “Build your team and never give up. People see you. Just keep working your butt off.” She has set the bar high and is an outstanding inspiration for women in the equestrian field.
