When the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, does anything, it causes a stir. Be it when he announced buying out Twitter or when he ridiculed chess and preferred Polytopia over it. One such event was when SpaceX sent a rocket in the sky to propel 10 satellites that lit up the sky. A certain skateboarding legend Tony Hawk was mesmerized by this.

Tony Hawk mesmerized by SpaceX’s satellite launch
In December 2017, SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Air Force Base. This rocket propelled 10 satellites into low-Earth orbit, among the 75 that will go into the orbit. This launch was for Iridium, a communications provider. A lot of people witnessed and reacted to the brilliant shower of lights that was the result of this rocket launch.
Skateboarding champion, Tony Hawk, first tweeted a video of the rocket launch, saying, “Does anyone know what we just saw in the skies above San Diego?” To this video tweet, he received a reply that clarified that this was a doing of SpaceX, Elon Musk’s company. He then tagged the billionaire in his next tweet, “Very cool. [Elon Musk] knows how to throw a party.”

Elon Musk himself tweeted a video about the rocket launch. In his usual sarcasm, he said it was a “Nuclear alien UFO from North Korea.”
Tony Hawk makes a comeback; performs first kick-flip
Recently Tony Hawk made news for his tweet about how he performed his first kick-flip after his femur broke 7 months ago. He also talked about how difficult it was, and that it was “[possibly] payback for me harassing strangers to do the same.”

Hawk has been a skilled skateboarder since the age of 14 and has been the first skateboarder to do the ‘900‘ skateboarding trick. He also is the proud winner of the National Skateboard Association world champion for 12 years.
Hawk has lion’s share in popularizing the skateboarding sport. Before him, it was looked at as a local sport. He also operates his own company, ‘Birdbox,’ which develops skateboarding accessories and merchandise. Hawk’s compliment to Elon Musk truly shows what a remarkable sight the satellite launch must have been!
