Sports worlds often collide. And when they do it’s to take note of something historic. And perhaps that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday. With Shaun White on the brink of leaving his last Olympics without a medal, he came up with a clutch. Reserving a spot for himself in the finals with a solid showing on the half-pipe that would astound most athletes.
The 35-year-old has shown remarkable ability and finesse in securing his spot and the sports world knows it. Bryce Harper, of the Philadelphia Phillies, took to Instagram to voice his appreciation for the snowboarder and his incredible run in the half-pipe on Tuesday.

The Phillies’ right fielder is currently at home, ostensibly training for the 2022 season. With spring training yet to resume, and the lockout still in full force, it seems unlikely that the 2021 NL MVP is looking out for spring training to start on time. However, the flip side of getting more time at home could mean that he gets to sit back and enjoy other sports that are taking place around the world right now. And Harper sure seems to be pooling as much as he can from the Beijing winter Olympic games.
Bryce Harper wishes Shaun White
Harper took to Instagram to sound his appreciation and sheer amazement at the feat. In a story that he posted to his own personal account, Harper wrote, “Easy money! Let’s Go!!” tagging Shaun White on his story personally.
Competing in what now will be his last Olympic games, White will likely like to leave the half-pipe with a medal around his neck and the American national anthem ringing at the podium. And Harper all the happier for it.

However, Harper will be hoping to get back to baseball as soon as possible. And he has dropped several hints to that effect too. He posted a video of himself at the Citizens Bank Park absolutely dispatching a pitch with the caption “Just because!”.

Many have theorized this could be read as a message to have an end to the lockdown and to resume baseball as soon as humanly possible. The players look itching to get going and the fans certainly are. However, things are still in flux and could stand a bit clearer after Thursday when a statement from commissioner Rob Manfred is expected.
In the meantime, perhaps it is best for Harper to sit back and watch the slopes. Who knows, maybe he was Shaun White’s lucky charm?
