But being a wise owl once in a blue moon won’t hurt anyone. Recently on his show, Smith entertained a call from a fan named Victor Lincoln. Lincoln asked Smith how he managed to take care of himself and his own mental health and adapt to every change.

Drawing a perfect reference from the famous movie, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, Smith confessed his ‘love’ for the movie which was a collaboration between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. Adding to the conversation, he said, “Remember that scene when Bradley Cooper’s in his house?”.

“He’s talking to his friend who’s married, and he was like, come on, why do you keep doing this and the guy’s talking about his wife he said because she brings me down, man!”

As Smith made the perfect analogy, his advice was, “The point is you gotta make sure that people who are in your life don’t affect you like that, and people who do affect you like that can’t get into your life!” But that was not all from the First Take host. 

Stephen A Smith Distinguishes Between Supporters and Detractors

Victor Lincoln, the person who called Smith, claimed that he had watched the Stephen A Smith Show for a long time. Lincoln claimed that he was watching Smith for most of his life! As the conversation developed, Smith advised Lincoln further on who one should surround themselves with.

Smith said, “First of all, you got to surround yourself with the right people and people who love you. I didn’t say yes people who are just going to tell you what you want to hear, I said, surrounding yourself with people who love you because sometimes people who love you don’t tell you what you want to hear. They tell you what you need to hear, and so I think that’s incredibly important.”

The advice is indeed something to ponder upon. Such guidance from someone like Stephen A Smith, who has spent quite some time in the spotlight, is definitely a stepping stone to keeping one’s self grounded and practical.
