Felicia’s father, Jamie, a professional BMX racer had himself put her on the bike after her mother had passed away when she was merely three years old. Talking about it, she adds, “I think BMX racing was how dad showed he cared… And, he definitely did it well, because I kept growing more and more in the sport because of him.”
Riding since the age of four, Stancil has received tremendous support from her dad to conquer international competitions. Cherishing her father’s consistent support, Stancil acknowledged his presence in various world championships in which she competed. She remarks in the video, “I remember every single year at world championships, he would be in a different country’s crowd to help his nerves.”

Stancil, who originally hails from Lake County, Illinois, made her Olympic debut in Tokyo. At the Ariake Urban Sports Park for BMX Racing Olympic finals, while she was fast, she was only able to work her way into a fourth-place finish, missing the podium by half a second. Talking about it, Stancil adds that she kept thinking of it for the next eight months. For the past three years, she has been focusing on this particular race to win gold at the forthcoming Olympics.
