Very often, fans see crashes during the Alpine Skiing competitions. During the Winter Olympics, many skiers lost their way through the course and crashed out, including Mikaela Shiffrin, a two-time Olympic gold medalist. However, sometimes, they just get up and move forward as Cornelia Hutter did. The Alpine skier crashed during one of her runs and thankfully got away with some bruises.

Slalom competitions make a person travel at speeds of 80-90mph. It is one of the most dangerous sports in the world because of the same. And the Alpine skier found this out during one of the recent downhill races.
Alpine skier suffers a huge crash
The Alpine Ski World Cup happens this week in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, as competitors get ready to fight for medals. But, Hutter will miss the event because of the injuries she suffered during the downhill race in Crans-Montana. She finished third in the competition but crashed out in her second run in the event. Suffering from a concussion, Hutter will miss the event as a case of precaution from the injury.

While going at insane speed levels, she lost control of her skis and crashed at the final jump, and slid to the finish line. The Austrian Ski Federation sent Hutter for medical testing and found her with a concussion, whiplash, and a mild knee ligament injury. With the races scheduled for March 5th and 6th respectively, Hutter will miss out on the event.

Cornelia Hutter’s recent form
The Austrian skier has been in great form off late, recording three podium finishes in the World Cup. However, concussions are serious and can lead to complications if not treated properly. Thus, she spoke about her recovery stage and how she felt after the race.

“After the fall I was a bit upset and was only able to remember all the details a little later. But now I’m doing quite well again and I only have a slight headache. Of course I would have liked to have been there in Lenzerheide, but concussions are no joke,” said Hutter.

Not to forget, returning from a rather disappointing run, Mikaela Shiffrin would hope to create history by winning her fourth World Cup title. And with many other athletes who are looking to win, it is a disappointing end to Hutter’s current run. Hopefully, she can come back soon and race for the World Cup finals in Méribel. We’ll have to wait and watch!
