Online chess is the new age for chess as a sport. While earlier you could only analyze a game, if you were able to watch it in person, now the information about every game ever played is available in the database. Undoubtedly, as an asset, computers have revolutionized the game of chess. However, there are certain drawbacks that even top Grand Masters like Magnus Carlsen can’t escape from.

There is a burning debate going on in the world of chess about whether online chess is better than the physical game on the board. While both have their positives and negatives, players remain divided on the subject. Though there’s a critical element attached to the online chess, that is making Grand Master’s life vulnerable.
Even Magnus Carlsen is susceptible to blunders in online chess
This is a major issue with online chess. Sometimes the players click at the wrong piece accidentally or sometimes it’s a mouse slip blunder, costing them the entire game. The world chess champion Magnus Carlsen himself has gone through such unfortunate incidents many a time. However, when these silly blunders happen in a serious game like chess and it’s not your fault, the feeling is certainly inexplicable.
A similar incident happened with the Dutch Grand Master Anish Giri as well. In the ongoing Oslo Esports cup, which is the third tournament of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, Anish made a huge blunder because of a mouse slip.

In the post-game interview, the Dutch Grand Masters revealed the cause of his unfortunate blunder. He said, “You either click-click or drag-drag. And I sometimes click a piece and then drag another. I think there should be synergy between the clicking and dragging. The fact that I am both clicking and dragging at the same time, that’s where it goes wrong. I should really stop it.”
