The exceptional chess players, Norway’s Magnus Carlsen and Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi, have been up against each other at the World Chess Championship 2021. Notably, the battle for the title started on the 28th of November and will conclude on the 16th of December.

Interestingly, Magnus has already clinched the title of the ultimate chess player three times. Moreover, whoever triumphs at the championship in Dubai, will win a hefty amount as the prize money.
The insane prize money for the chess champion
While Magnus and Ian continue to give each other tough competition, here are the details of the prize money. The prize money for the 2021 championship is estimated to be at €2 million, around $2 million in USD. Notably, the matches are currently taking place at the Dubai Exhibition Center.

However, the winner doesn’t take home all the prize money. While the champion will take 60% of the amount, 40% goes to the runner-up. Notably, the two chess geniuses have already competed in four out of the fourteen-game series.

When is the next game?
The World Chess Championship 2021 has been going intensely, with both the players making each move cautiously. After four matches, the championship stands at a draw. The challenger, Ian, has proved to be a tough competitor for the reigning champion, Magnus Carlsen.
