During her last match against Borgov, Beth Harmon made strategic moves to gain her victory. Carlsen analyzed the entire sequence and spoke of how disrespectful Borgov was during the last episode.
Magnus Carlsen ashamed of Borgov
The champion scrutinized the entire segment leading to Harmon’s victory.
“This draw offer is, frankly, insulting. She should never take it. As I said, his pieces are all tied up. She can never lose. And you should never offer a draw in this situation. Like, you may offer a draw in a worse position where you have counter chances, but he doesn’t have any counter chances here. She absolutely needs to reject this, particular, particular offer,” said Carlsen.

When a player doesn’t have any counter moves, he normally resigns to give the opposition player his/her victory. On the other hand, Borgov preferred to try his luck by asking Harmon for a draw. She played on and sacrificed her queen, humiliating him inch by inch, thus, claiming a sensational victory. A dejected Borgov appreciated her game and offered her respect as pointed out by Carlsen.

Carlsen loved the TV series!
The TV series is known for its realistic chess segments while not going overboard with the script. Harmon was a prodigy, made a career out of chess by visualizing moves in her head. Although she took some performance enhancements to get clarity in her moves, the story focuses on how she withdrew all those to become a staunch champion. A truly remarkable TV Show.
Carlsen addressed the TV show in a recent interview, speaking about how the directors assembled great gameplay within the show.

“I would say it?s a 5 out of 6. I would have given it a full score except I found it a bit disturbing that all the kids in the series want to get adopted because in chess that means losing 10 games in a row and no kid would want to do that.”
“Kidding aside though, I thought it was very enjoyable. The optics were great; they did the chess pretty well with the games,” said Carlsen.
