No one, not even the most seasoned bull riders, can predict how novices will shock the crowd. The rookies have utterly dominated the rankings during the 2024 Unleash the Beast season, proving that point. A few days ago, Brazilian bull riding star Joao Ricardo Vieira won his first event title of 2024 in the PBR Tulsa event in Oklahoma. However, rookie sensation John Crimber was the person who made a mark other than the event winner.
Witnessing the colossal ride of John Crimber on Montana Jacket was an unforgettable experience for any bull riding fan. As soon as PBR posted the footage of Crimber’s ride, it went viral on social media.

The youngster faced a difficult task in the third round of PBR Tulsa. John Crimber’s first round ride was 76.75, and his second round riding score was 85.50. For the cowboy, the last round meant one last shot at bringing home his first PBR event crown or, at the very least, enough points to move him up the UTB standings. Sitting on Montana Jacket, the rookie was prepared for the challenge. According to the footage posted by PBR on Instagram, the bull immediately bucked and turned around in a full circle the second the metal chutes were removed.

The bull gave it all in an effort to knock the cowboy. Yet, the 18-year-old sensation completely dominated the bull and its bucks; even after the 8-second buzzer had gone off, the cowboy was still atop the beast. As a result, the commentator and the audience were enthralled by the rookie’s performance. A whopping 91.50 points were awarded to John Crimber in the final round. Later, 39-year-old cowboy Joao Ricardo Vieira put a massive 91.75 point on board to take the PBR Tulsa title, but the rookie took home an essential podium with massive points for the 2024 UTB standings.

Both a boost of confidence and ranking
Conquering a PBR bull is no small task. But rookie John Crimber pulled it off and won over the cowboy community. With his outstanding performance and second-place finish at PBR Tulsa, the rookie was awarded 84.50 event points. These points made the cowboy’s ranking in the 2024 UTB standings jump from No. 32 to No. 13, which is no small feat.

Beyond that, John Crimber broke a few of his personal records at PBR Tulsa. For starters, it was his first ever 90-point ride in PBR, and secondly, it was the pinnacle of his young career thus far. The cowboy was purely out of contention in the first two rounds of the event. However, the final round changed it all, which shows how in bull riding things can change really fast.
