On the final night of the 2023 Professional Bull Riders Team Series Combines, Kyle Jones made a big statement. Jones posted the best score of the night with 89 points. The Troy, Missouri, resident also went a perfect two-for-two inside the Cowtown Coliseum. The win on Thursday night made him eligible for the 2023 Team Series Draft. While North Carolina’s Brandon Chambers came close, he fell 1.5 points short of Jones’s near flawless bull riding showcase.
The 2023 PBR Team Series Combines Championship was the culmination of three others held earlier. The three contests took place throughout March and April. The first one was at Archdale, North Carolina, on March 14. The second one was at Pueblo, Colorado, on March 28. However, Jones advanced from the final combine held at Bowie, Texas, on April 25. However, at Fort Worth, Jones proved himself against some of the best in the country.

For his first run of the night, Kyle Jones rode Armageddon. The intimidating Melton Bull Co. bull tested Jones’s grip and balance as he bucked hard. A few times during the action, the bull with an average buck-off percentage of 74, nearly threw Jones off of him. However, each time the man from Missouri used his legs to hug Armageddon’s torso and balanced himself with his free hand.
The exhilarating run earned Jones an 85.5 score. Jones posted the second-highest score against Armageddon. Previously, three-time world champion Silvano Alves had bested the bovine athlete with a score of 86.75 in 2020. However, the bull rider pulled ahead of the pack on his second run with a fine display of bull-riding prowess atop Listen Linda.

Despite having a lower buck-off percentage than Armageddon, Listen Linda has a marginally higher average score of 42.625, against Armageddon’s 42.5667. However, none of it mattered to Kyle Jones as the rider became one of two riders to conquer both their bovine opponents on Thursday. Jones also looked flawless in his second run.
After a short pause, the Judges confirmed what everyone inside Cowtown Coliseum felt, as Jones scored 89 atop Listen Linda. The only other rider to complete both runs was second-placed Brandon Chambers, scoring 87.5. However, Jones worked hard for his crowd-pleasing victory at Fort Worth.
