Cross-sport bonanza isn’t new to the sporting realm. Sporting knowledge is something that can be transposed and extrapolated. Especially in the bull riding world, several athletes across various sports make appearances to witness the electric displays. The Unleash the Beast tour of PBR has taken a stop at the Madison Square Garden in New York, and the thrill has kicked off (5th-7th Jan). Making a special appearance at The Garden is the Hall of Famer ‘Cowboy’, wishing to explore his rodeo side.
Donald Anthony Cerrone, the former mixed martial artist and UFC fighter, had lived his 11-year-old UFC life with 38 complete fights. But his sobriquet ‘Cowboy’ travels back to history when he was a part of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as a youngster. So, to live up to his riding penchant, Cerrone recently threw a challenge to a bull related to another popular UFC name.

Throughout his sporting career, the 40-year-old has paid homage to bull riding oftentimes. So, to notch up his game, he threw a challenge to UFC CEO, Dana White’s beloved bovine Twisted Steel. PBR’s X account has posted the video which is currently making headlines in the rodeo world. Captioning the post as “@danawhite, Cowboy Cerrone wants a shot at 8 seconds aboard Twisted Steel”, PBR summoned fans to savour a head-on. When the in-field commentator asked, “Are you being serious right now?” after hearing Cerrone’s declaration, the former asserted. Said, “I’ve never said no to a fight, and I think I should”. At this, the commentator almost couldn’t believe that the MMA veteran would match up for 8 seconds.

“What do you think New York city?” had waves of cheers from the audience. Nobody would want to lose a chance to watch the Denver native in action again. But his inclination to bull riding started early, and his fans took his nickname quite literally.

Cerrone was once a bull riding pheno
Since a very young age, the 40-year-old legendary MMA fighter had involved himself in consistent bull-riding sessions. Believe it or not, saddled on the bulls and engaging in thrills may have prepared him for the fighting career that soon ensued.

A proud owner of a state-of-the-art ranch, had once said,“I moved here from Colorado, and started looking for a property where I could ride bikes, horses, shoot guns”. Owning the 40-acre property was a matter of pride to him. He further said, “I called my grandpa and said, ‘I found a house and some acres I think I want to buy. I’ll be right there.” From his expression, it was clear that Cerrone always wanted to look beyond his conventional career.
