Professional bull riding is one of the most brutal and unforgiving sports. Athletes here often sustain life-threatening injuries that sometimes put a question mark on their competitive careers. A few days ago, a recognized PBR athlete fractured his collarbone while he was competing in the semifinals of the PBR team series. He was immediately taken to the hospital, and after a month with the injury, it looks like he is ready to make his return.

However, he is still not fully recovered from the injury and has stitches on his shoulder. He has shared an update on his social media that he will be performing for the rest of the season while abiding by the rules.

A return to the bull riding arena

Sage Kimzey does not need an introduction, as he is quite a household name in the world of bull riding. This seven-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association champion sustained a fatal injury while he was performing at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Wyoming. This tragic incident happened on July 28, 2023, when he was thrown by a bull and landed on his left shoulder, which ultimately fractured his collarbone.

Not even one month has passed since this incident, and Kimzey has shared an update regarding his possible return to the bull riding arena. He posted a picture of his stitched shoulder on Instagram and wrote a long caption that read, “I’m at 25 rodeos, so I made the decision to do whatever it takes to get the last 15. I’m going to be abiding by the rule book and trying to stay as safe as possible.”

It seems like this 28-year-old cowboy is ready to make his comeback, as he also added that he will be arriving in Logan, Utah. Although he also added that he would be following the rules and trying to stay safe, Back in July, when he was asked, he stated that he was looking to get all healed up, but his bruised shoulder narrates a different story.

At the beginning of the month, he was uncertain about his return, but now he has announced that he will make it to 40 rodeos (currently on 25) to get the Xtreme Bulls money count in the points table for Carolina Cowboys. He was drafted by the Carolina Cowboys in May and is trying to prove his worth.

His memorable PRCA debut after a long wait

He had been waiting for the draft like forever and finally got the chance to prove himself in May. When he made his long-awaited appearance at the Professional Bull Riding Team Series. The crowd was cheering for the Oklahoma-based cowboy at the top of their lungs. As soon as the gates opened and he entered the arena, the world of bull riding witnessed an absolute masterclass from Kimzey. His ride was The Hammer, a bucking bull known for his aggression.

Although Hammer tried his best to get rid of Kimzey, he was not an easy pill to digest. The cowboy held on to the bull until the end of the buzzer. When the 8-second buzzer was buzzed, he was there on the back of the Hammer and was rewarded with a perfect 90-point ride. As he has announced that he is coming back to claim his dues, his fans must be waiting for him to buzz the bull riding arena once again.
