Sage Kimzey drew towards the rodeo influence from his father who used to take him to rodeo. He participated in junior events and when matured he realized that bull riding was his call. In his mid-teens, he won a $4,000 prize which pushed him towards professional rodeo. He finished fourth at the College National Finals Rodeo in 2013. He joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association in the same year.
In his first year as a professional, he made a record at the PRCA by winning $47,726, the highest amount on a permit in a single season. After that the rest is history, he made more records and climbed the ladder to the top of the game. He had won seven world championship titles in 2014-2019 and 2021. He has eight NFR qualifications from 2014 to 2021. His career earnings in PRCA to date are $3,047,593.
