PBR has been a home for many of the bull-riders. Providing a ground on an everyday basis to aspiring and passionate youngsters. Adding to its background, an interesting fact surrounds rodeo enthusiasts. Before PBR there was only PRCA. A few ambitious cowboys, wanting to achieve more, came together in 1992 to make PBR what it is today.
And life comes back a full circle for one of the founding members. Jerome Davis, one among the 20 Cowboys who pressed on their dreams to create more, now coaches one of the teams from the PBR Team series. Jemore, a cowboy from Carolina, setting a stone for the bull riders, competing for PRCA and PBR, and losing his ability to practice what he loves, has now walked the path to coach the Carolina Cowboys. The renowned bull rider-trained team overcoming the hiccups along the way is now on for its most important matches of the series.

The Jerome Davis-led team had a fierce start to their match back at Cheyenne. However, the team was faced with unprecedented accidents lined up the very next day. First Daylon Swearingen and then Sage Kimzey, the team suffered an impact hit. However, with Sage Kimzey’s return on the 16th, the team has gained consecutive wins leading to their important matches. Conquering the Kansas City Outlaws on the 16th and the table-topping Austin Gamblers on the 17th, the Cowboys now place 5th on the table with 9-10.
The Cowboys, hoping to keep up with the momentum, will aim for a solid defense at the home ground from the 22nd through 24th. The first day will see a match between the Arizona Ridge Riders who have been on a winning streak; with Sage taking on Mike’s motive. The match with Ridge Riders will be followed by Oklahoma Freedom and Nashville Stampede.

With only a few days left for the finals, the team coach remains optimistic about the team’s further standings reports PBR. Davis having experienced the shifting features and image of PBR aims for yet another rollercoaster, even if on a smaller scale compared to the organization.
The Rodeo Star Reminisces Past
It is safe to say that Davis has been around to watch the bull-riding industry take its small steps. From the birth of PBR to the culmination of the Carolina Cowboys, Jerome has watched it all. The bull rider starting at the age of 7 took it up a notch when he enrolled into the PRCA in 1992. Moving on, Jerome earned his biggest title of 1995 PRCA bull riding world champion just 3 years into his career.

“When we went to bed dreaming of bull riding, it was being a World Champion in the PRCA. So when I finally achieved that, something I wanted to do all my life, that was the big deal.” Davis said talking to PBR. However, life hit the rising star hard and fast when he was at his peak. In 1998, while performing, Jerome was thrown off the bull breaking his neck. The incident left Davis paralyzed chest down ever since. However, without forgoing his love for the sport, Jerome took on coaching and mentoring. His continued interests landed him as the coach of the Carolina Cowboys.
“I enjoy the coaching gig,” Davis said. “It brings that old winning mentality back, wanting to get out there and win…We’ve just got to get our main guys healed back up and get them back on our roster, and I think we’ll see some great things happening.” The head coach of the Carolina Cowboys still maintains his hope that the team will make its way to the finals somehow, which will be held in LA on Oct. 20-22.
