The PBR Canada Cup Series has had a thrilling run to its course over the past 8 months. The season took off for the year back in February at Red Deer, Alberta. Since then, the showcase has covered 7 stops to date; welcoming the best of the bull riding community across the country. However, with the year-end lingering around, the series is soon to witness the finale and the air couldn’t hold more excitement and intensity.

The Canada Cup Series was a season scheduled to hold 9 events for the year; with the last one hosting the 2023 PBR Canada National Finals. Thus far, the series has traveled across 7 venues and will next be landing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for one final showdown before the champion-declaring contest. As the riders rush in to grab their spot at the top, the 20-year-old rising sensation is ready to join in on the fight; forgoing the odds.

Bull riding champ triumphs over adversities

By the end of last year, the 20-year-old sensation, Cauy Schmidt, suffered injuries that placed him out of the grounds for months. It wasn’t until May that the youngster could make a return and interestingly for Cauy, he has held a positive attitude towards his comeback. ?I didn?t know what to expect this year coming off of my injury,? Schmidt told PBR.com. ?I did however set some goals and I have been achieving them this year, so hopefully I can close out and make those PBR Canada National Finals.?

Schmidt further added that his situation helped him realize the importance the sport held for him. He stated that though it wasn’t an easy journey toward making a comeback, it was totally worth it. Since his return, Cauy has had runner-up finishes in 4 of the events and placed third in the first event back. With good numbers on the board, Schmidt looks to ace the final showdown of the Cup Series to make it to the finale.

Cauy Schmidts’ steps to the finale

Placing inside the top 17 is currently the primary goal for the bull riders as they head to the final event at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at SaskTel Centre. Cauy currently placed 22nd with 126.33, and 54.17 points behind No. 17 Brock Radford. However, the youngster, who was last season’s Rookie of the Year award winner, has just the skills and girth to turn the standings table around.

?I am just making sure to be putting in the work when we aren?t riding bulls and to be making sure I am having fun while I am there. That is really it for me,? Schmidt said. “Heart and dedication is what I would say gets me to the Finals,??he added.?The PBR Canada National Finals will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, at Rogers Place with $175,000. Dakota Buttar, Cody Coverchuk, and Nick Tetz currently lead the table heading into the final round.
