Bull riding is quite often a pretty dangerous and often violent sport. But former legendary bull rider J.W. Hart was a master of the sport. In fact, over the years, his impeccable performances during various Professional Bull Riders’ tours earned him the moniker Iron Man. After an illustrious career, Hart traded his cowboy boots for a coaching role and he currently coaches the fairly new Kansas City Outlaws.

Known for his cowboy skills in the arena, Iron Man is also a doting father at home. His recent social media post gave an insight into his relationship with his son and how he believes in starting them young.

Just like a seasoned bull rider, Hart asks his son, “You’re ready?” and his son responds enthusiastically, “Yeah!” The coaching session begins as the proud father imparts some invaluable tips, saying, “You gotta keep your shoulders squared,” as if he were guiding a young bull-riding prodigy. Hart then starts imitating a violent bull and starts jumping up and down while his son is laughing and holding on to his father to maintain his balance.

His son eventually falls down, but the father-son connection is clearly visible on the internet. As Hart is the coach of Kansas City Outlaws, PBR captioned the post, “JW in @kcoutlawspbr coaching mode 24/7” and tagged the bull riding team in the caption. It was only last year that the legendary bull rider came on board to coach the Outlaws and was quite surprised at how much the sport has changed.

J.W. Hart left surprised by the changes in bull riding

J.W. Hart has seen it all in the world of bull riding, but he was left quite surprised by how much the sport has changed when he became the coach of Kansas City Outlaws. As a coach, he is now witnessing firsthand the dramatic changes in training techniques and the dedication to athletes’ well-being. The team now boasts a state-of-the-art film room where riders analyze and learn from past rides, identifying areas for improvement and honing their skills.  In the past, bull riders might have depended on fast food and late-night snacks to fuel their high-energy performances. But the Kansas City Outlaws prioritize nutrition like never before.

A dedicated nutritionist designs personalized diet plans for each rider, ensuring they receive the proper fuel to perform at their best. Moreover, the team now benefits from the expertise of a strength and fitness coach. All these structures weren’t around during Hart’s bull riding days. As for his heartfelt video, it not only displays his coaching prowess but also showcases the beautiful bond shared between a father and his son, the passing down of tradition, and the joy that comes from sharing a passion.
