JB Mauney is a GOAT bull rider, with two PBR World Championships in 2013 and 2015. Beyond his rodeo success, his personal life blossomed when he married Samantha Lyne in 2016, and they welcomed their son, Jagger Briggs Mauney, in 2019. Samantha is a former barrel racer and qualified for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in 2014. She is the daughter of five-time PRCA World Champion Phil Lyne.

The couple have a daughter named Bella Mauney and a son named Jagger Briggs Mauney. This sweet happy family now lives in Stephenville, Texas, as JB bought a home in this location in the year 2020. However, after having such a dreamy and successful life, things went a little south for the Dragon Slayer when he met an injury in 2023. Today, JB Mauney shared an Instagram story about his son, in which JB Mauney had his son sit on the bull. He captioned it as, “The most interesting child you will ever meet.

 

In 2019 During an interview with PBR, Mauney said, “I want my kids to be happy and successful, whatever they choose to do. But if they want to ride bulls, I’ll be there to support them every step of the way.” Mauney is a great role model for his children and he is sure to raise them to be successful and happy adults. However, J.B. Mauney retired at the age of just 36.

J.B. Mauney’s Legacy

Renowned two-time world rodeo champion Cowboy J.B. Mauney hailed as one of the preeminent bull riders of his era, decided to retire at the age of 36 following a harrowing incident at the PRCA Pro Rodeo event in Lewiston, Idaho, where he suffered a severe neck injury. During the event, Mauney ?was propelled off the bull’s back, resulting in a traumatic landing on his neck, necessitating immediate medical attention. He underwent a successful surgery at St. Joseph Regional Medical, which involved the insertion of rods, plates, screws, and the removal of a disc. Mauney shared this update on his social media platform.

Regrettably, this critical surgery marked the end of his illustrious rodeo career, as he announced his retirement with these words: “Unfortunately, this surgery has brought my career to a close. I simply want to inform everyone that I am recovering well and am on the path to rehabilitation.
