In the heart of Cedar Park, Texas, a thrilling spectacle is set to unfold for the fourth year in a row. This captivating showdown is none other than the PBR’s Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour, returning to the iconic H-E-B Center on February 9-10, 2024, for two unforgettable nights of heart-stopping action. But beyond the adrenaline-pumping excitement of bull riding, this event embodies a rich tapestry of traditions, stories, and a sense of unity within the community.

PBR Cedar Park 2024 Competition Format

The bull riding action for PBR Cedar Park 2024 will commence with Round 1 at 8:00 p.m. CT on Friday, February 9. The excitement will reach its pinnacle on Saturday, February 10, with Round 2 and the championship round beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT.

In Round 1, all 40 talented bull riders will face off against one bull each. The Top 36 riders from Round 1 will advance to Round 2, where their two-round scores will be combined to determine the Top 10 riders who will compete in the championship round. The stakes are high, and the competition promises to be fierce.

The 2023 PBR Cedar Park event witnessed the emergence of Griffin Smeltzer, hailing from Claresholm, Alberta, who rode to victory by going 2-for-3 against the mighty Bovines. Although Smeltzer encountered an unexpected early setback, being bucked off by LNE 849, he rallied back with unwavering determination. His exceptional performance included an 86.5-point ride on Bad Deal and a stellar 87-point ride on Orca, securing him the top spot on the leaderboard and the event win.

History Repeats Itself: Past Champions and What to Expect

Looking back at the event’s history, notable past champions include Cladson Rodolfo (2022) and J.T. Moore (2021). The city of Cedar Park has a rich tradition of hosting PBR events, with the Touring Pro Division taking centre stage annually from 2011 to 2015.

During these years, bull riding enthusiasts witnessed the triumphs of renowned riders such as Robson Palermo, Kasey Hayes, Markus Mariluch, Reese Cates, and Douglas Duncan.

In February 2024, Cedar Park, Texas, will once again play host to the PBR’s Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour, marking its fourth consecutive appearance at the H-E-B Center. The event follows a record-breaking 2023 season for the Velocity Tour and is the thirteenth in the new season, where riders vie for the 2024 PBR Velocity Tour Champion title.
