After a short stint as a full-time PBR commentator last year, rodeo enthusiasts were excited as Sage Kimzey declared himself available for the 2023 draft. As expected, he lit up the stadium with his blazing bull riding. The 7x PRCA Champion was absolutely brilliant in his maiden Unleash The Beast event.
In his illustrious career, Sage Kimzey has dominated PBR circuits for several years. Though being on top is nothing new for him, PBR?s UTB event posed a different challenge for the 31-year-old. However, he lightened up the stage and received a shoutout for his performance from PBR.
Sage Kimzey receives a huge shoutout

Sage Kimzey has achieved so much in his more than decade-long career, and yet can’t stop amazing us. He was commentating at last year’s inaugural PBR Camping World Team Series event, and a year later joined the Carolina Cowboys to have a taste of the same. He recently participated in the inaugural UTB event and was absolutely brilliant.

Given his aura and his blazing ride, Kimzey received a huge shoutout from PBR?s official Instagram handle. ?Sage Kimzey isn’t letting this opportunity pass him by.?, the biggest bull riding organization captioned. Kimzey rode on the bull ?Gangster? and easily defeated him in the first round. Owing to this performance, Kimzey saw himself at the top of the event standings after the first round.
It was the first time Kimzey had given his full attention, as well as commitment to the UTB event. He did well, especially in the first round, and deservedly received the shoutout from PBR. However, as the event concluded, Kimzey wasn’t declared winner. Surprisingly, a young rookie shone bright among veterans.

Rookie shines among veterans
As rodeo veterans Jose Vitor Leme, Jao Ricardo Veira, and Sage Kimzey were pitted to steal the UTB event, rodeo enthusiasts were surprised as the young rookie topped the 2024 Unleash The Beast World Standings. Caden Bunch is a 20-year Oklahoma rider with less than a year of experience in top-flight bull riding. Yet he outperformed everyone on the big stage.

Bunch was impressive in UTB debut, and secured his maiden Premier Series win with a perfect 3-for-3 performance. He clinched 86 points in the first round, and 88.25 in the second to propel himself to the top of the rankings replacing Sage Kimzey. While Bunch is a guy to watch out for, Sage Kimzey is continuing his brilliant year and fans are eager to see what’s in store for him next.
