It was round 1 of UTB Chicago inside Allstate Arena on the 12th of January, and Daylon Swearingen probably attained the unexpected. The 2022 PBR World Champion had an arrival delay, for the event and went ahead to secure the initial victory of the stop. Swearingen, 24, took on Midnight Magic as he landed at the arena with the contest already underway. A matched stride of the duo earned the Carolina Cowboy an impressive 88.25-point ride. “The promotion’s biggest rising star,” the New York Post called him following his 2022 victory, and the rider has performed to stand by it.
In the crowd-filled arena on Friday, Swearingen dominated the 22-rider contingent to find a spot on the top. His UTB points not only pushed him from 25th in the standings to 21st, but in doing so, he also left behind the No. 1 Austin Richardson and No. 2 Cassio Dias. While the bull riding champion garnered a much-needed lead, the competition for round 2 might not be simple.
