Entering what seems like a new era, the bull riding industry is witnessing a shifting growth. From an increase in popularity to inclusivity in events, the sport stands to adorn change in years to come. Najiah Knight, a 17-year-old, determined and fierce, has been a backing presence for the presented stance. Dreaming as a toddler to making it to the esteemed stages, Knight has geared up to grasp the male-dominant arena.
Najiah marked her presence in bull riding as a 13-year-old breaking barriers with an unphased focus. Injury, money, barriers. Nothing seemed to matter to the teen sensation as she trod her way forward. Her parents, right by her through all of it, however, ensured to set a social media presence for the youngster; drawing in spectators and sponsors.

As a 3-year-old, Knight wanted to be a bull rider. What changed as she grew up is only her will to rise higher. “I’m going to be in the PBR, I’m going to be the first girl,” the youngster reveals. And supporting her on the path forward hasn’t just been parents but the numerous sponsors believing in her. One of whom, the youngster ensured to extend gratitude towards. “Would like to send a Huge THANK YOU to Jim Anderson from Operating Engineers Local 701 for Being one of My Sponsors this year…” Knight captioned her Instagram post.

Apart from the IUOE Local 701, Knight has found backing in a couple more brands, including Cooper Tires and Ariat. The rising bull riding sensation was the first one hosted by a boot and clothing maker. According to AP, the sponsorship conditions for maintaining good grades. For Knight, that doesn’t seem to be a problem. The 17-year-old sports a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. As she continues to receive the backing, Najiah Knight only aims bigger down the road.

The way forward only a phenom is privy to
As a 17-year-old, Knight has already showcased the potential she embraces with her persistent triumph. As a 7-year-old, the youngster started with Steers. At 9, the miniature bull riding was hers to conquer. From 2018 to 2020, she remained among the top 15 mini bull riders in the country. In 2020, she joined the Mini Bull Riders (MBR) circuit, becoming the first girl to ride at Madison Square Garden and ultimately defeat all the boys in round 3.

Keeping up, the bull riding champ became the only girl in the 16-18 division to qualify for the Junior World Finals in December 2023. “There is the hopeful side of me that wants her to be a world champion,” the PBR CEO said. “I believe that anything is possible for her. She’s been committed.”
