Home/Olympics

Boxing involves maintaining a constant guard while landing hits on your opponent. However, some boxers are too relentless to follow this approach and pummel their opponent with punches and combos. Morelle McCane is a 66kg weight-class boxer who is currently competing at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. Morelle McCane is currently America’s top welterweight boxer. The young boxing sensation has enjoyed an insanely strong campaign in Santiago, forcing the referee to grant her a quarter-final win in seconds. McCane’s semi-final bout saw a similar conclusion, as she beat Canada’s Charlie Cavanagh to seal herself a spot in the finals. Team USA tweeted about the Olympic qualification of Morelle McCane via its official X account.

The tweet carried the captioned, “MAKE WAY!! Morelle McCane has punched her ticket to @Paris2024! #RoadToParis l #Santiago2023.” Morelle McCane has been trying really hard to qualify for the Olympics for a long time. Interestingly, her qualification makes her the fifth boxer to make it to the Olympics from Cleveland, and the first woman boxer to do so.
