Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis need no formal introduction. Leading faces in Hollywood, the three, over the years, created a trademark of themselves. Known for their powerful screen presence, the trio continues to dominate the movie space with their effortless acting prowess. In a competitive space like a movie, it’s very rare when big names come together.

As for Sylvester and Arnold, the two in the 70s and 80s shared a strong professional rivalry. Leaving no room for the other, they ensured to mark their presence felt even off the screen. However, as stars aligned for the better, the trio collaborated for the mega-budget film ‘The Expendables’ back in 2019. As Sylvester took the project’s director role, he opened up about the difficulties of getting together such big names under one banner.

Arnold’s co-star spilled the beams 

Stallone realized that bringing together big names to share the screen was not an easy task. In an interview that dates to 2009, Stallone in the Venice film festive said, “I wanted to do a film that was more about men.” He further added, “just doing things that we did back in the 80s and 90s with films that were a little bit more men on men.”

In the said interview, he also talked about why Arnold, and Bruce chose the project. He said he was motivated by the desire to find “certain personalities that never would ever work together normally.” However, he did not just restrict himself to direction.

He also acknowledged the difficulties in getting all together for the project. He quoted, “it’s impossible to get all those egos in the same room.” Thus, as a director bringing together such great names was an achievement. As quoted, “It’s like a dream team.” 

Stallone spoke more about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce 

During the said time, the shooting for the film was scheduled to start in the following weeks. Sharing his excitement, Stallion informed that he, Arnold, and Bruce would be collaborating for the first time on a film. He also shared that he was growing his statement beard back to get into the roles.

For the unversed, the three stars worked together in a movie for the first time since they attended the openings of their restaurant project, ‘Planet Hollywood’, in 1991. However, as fans were lucky after the success of the first part, the trio again collaborated for ‘The Expendables 2’ in 2012.
