“The Toughest Moment of Life”: Mourning the Death of His Brother, Bodybuilder Known for Portraying Arnold Schwarzenegger Makes a Heartbreaking Confession

Australian bodybuilder, Calum von Moger suffered a major loss recently. Days ahead of the 2023 Arnold Classic Expo, his younger brother went missing. Unfortunately, after a desperate search was organized, a body was retrieved from a beach coast in Anglesea, Australia. Later, it was presumed to be Edward von Moger, who was declared dead after going missing for over a week. The news hit hard for the Moger family. Calum is intensely grief-stricken and expressed his sorrow in his recent YouTube video. 

The athlete dedicated the video to his late brother and paid a visit to the popular event in his memory. He explained it as being the most difficult time of his life and felt shattered even at the Expo. 

Calum von Moger heartbroken upon his brother’s demise

On his official self-titled channel, the 32-year-old athlete attempted to illustrate glimpses from his current miserable times. The video comes as the first statement from Calum after Eddie was confirmed dead. “I was excited to meet you all at the [2023] Arnold but during that same time, I was going through the toughest moment in my life,” he insinuated. As per reports, his 28-year-old sibling went missing on the same day Calum flew out to Ohio for the bodybuilding event.

Even though the three-time Mr. Universe visited the Expo, he was struck with despair and agony. “Every second of the day, my mind was elsewhere thinking about Eddie. I know I was physically there but mentally not present,” he shared in the video. Besides that, Calum also apologized if he had unintentionally hurt anyone’s sentiments at the event. The actor added, “I want to apologize to those who approached me and sadly I had to turn away because I was too emotional. Thank you everyone for the love and support during this time. This video is dedicated to my brother Edward Von Moger.”

 Calum rose to fame after his 2018 drama-documentary feature of legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Bigger. But, he couldn’t flourish in the industry due to a series of unfortunate events. 

Calum von Moger’s mental health woes

It is difficult to comprehend what the athlete might be going through at the moment. Apart from his brother’s passing away, Calum was involved in a legal mishap with the police after a road rage accident in 2022, during which it was revealed that Calum suffered from poor mental health and also PTSD. 

Shockingly, he also fell out of a two-story window and was hospitalized in a coma for a week, and took a break from social media to later reveal his struggles with depression and anxiety. However, now he is determined to get his life back on track. The ‘Bigger’ star has channeled his distress towards the gym and utilizes most of his time working out.  It is deeply saddening to witness such losses within the sports community. Nevertheless, Eddie shall be cherished and missed forever by his big brother and the bodybuilding world as a whole.
