Craig Golias might not be a name commonly heard in bodybuilding enthusiast circles but, it might be a name worth noting as well. Craig Golias, nicknamed Goliath due to his gigantic stature, took up bodybuilding when he felt the need to work on his self-image. Presently, he is a 310 lbs monster towering at 6 feet 3′.

The bodybuilder was not always a goliath though. In a recent interview with the daily star, the athlete speaks about his journey in the sport, and also what made him choose strength athletics over being a stripper and a musician.

Craig Golias speaks about his childhood and his venture into bodybuilding 

Born in California, Craig started weight training at an early age. He gave up his job as a male stripper to concentrate on fulfilling his dream of becoming a bodybuilder. Today, the once scrawny teen is unrecognizable, to say the least.

“I got into bodybuilding cause I was skinny and had low self-esteem,” says Golias, “So at the age of 19 I started training.” 

Earning his daily bread and butter was a struggle for the young athlete. “I [was a stripper] from age 19 to 23,” he recalled. “I quit it to take bodybuilding more seriously,” he said while discussing his advent into the bodybuilding industry.

Craig Golias is a self-proclaimed metalhead. He has been a part of the underground metal music circuit and has undertaken the microphone duties for his band. He used to be the long-haired metalhead kid before he started training. “Before…I was a musician,” he continues, “Once my last band broke up, that’s when I decided to move to California.”

Golias’ mantra to succeed in life

“Push the envelope as much as possible and never give up,” the athlete illustrates a picture of his secret success mantra. Craig Golias is attempting to attain the biggest muscle mass he has ever achieved. The aim was to be as big as 375 lbs. According to an interview with Muscle and Fitness, Golias elucidated how he wishes to document his transformation. In an attempt to prove to his fans and otherwise, that it is possible to maintain a lean waist even after getting that big. “That’s one thing I’m really known for,” he proudly adds.

Golias competed in several amateur bodybuilding shows from 2007 before focusing on getting more significant. His pictures have often become viral sensations and have been compared to the likes of Rich Piana and Big Ramy. This was a tremendous boost for Craig’s motivation. Presently, Golias has an Instagram following of over a million followers and counting.
