However, that journey to reach the glory was never easy for Arnold. Opening up on his “worst nightmare,” Arnold, in his book, ‘Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story’ speaks up in great length.

Arnold’s Worst Nightmare

Arnold‘s professional career was never linear; as he speaks for himself, he quotes that he went through three careers-bodybuilding, acting, and governing. Though he is well aware of his accomplishments and reputation, yet to date, a nightmare haunts him.

Further, into the book, he reveals how he feels that his mother would come and wake him up, saying, “Wake up, Arnold, go to work.” For Arnold, this does not bring many happy memories, as he is reminded of the little town of Thal. The Terminator star had to migrate due to multiple restrictions and a lack of opportunities.

Narrating further, he says that he fears that someone else will come and wake him up while he dreams about his mother. Hearing his mother’s voice, he quotes, “Arnold, you overslept! You have to get up! You have to get to the factory!.” He never got the opportunity to explore life back in his hometown. As he quotes, if someone wakes him up from his dream, he would say, “Noooo! Why did you wake me up?” Thus wants to be undisturbed while he sleeps because that’s the only possible time wherein he can explore the life that he never got to see.

What Prompted Arnold Schwarzenegger to shift?

Growing up in a nation that had gone to war, things were not easy. With fewer opportunities and career prospects, there was a struggle from the very beginning. It was the struggles that prompted Arnold to take a decision. As he quote, If you had this wonderful, rosy atmosphere, you would not want to leave.”

Having faced hardships from a young age, Arnold realized America had the promise of the future he desired. However, for him to leave everything behind and start from scratch on an alien land was never easy.
