In the bodybuilding world, Frank Zane retained the crown as the ‘king of aesthetics’ to date. The veteran and 3x Mr. Olympia winner swooped fans with his build. Despite retiring from his career, Zane has found new ways to keep his incredible body in shape.

Over the years, the star has spilled his secrets on how to get a well-built body akin to his. While he had immersed himself in training in the good old days, Zane came up with some advice for effective training. During an interview in 2021, he spoke about one of his important goals while training.

Frank Zane swears by pumping

A good round of exercise gets the heart beating. However, one might come across various workout regimes that focus on different aspects of the body. Depending on one’s goals, workouts might be tweaked accordingly. Frank Zane elaborated on this part. The veteran made sure to follow a certain set of rules that led to a particular criterion. He considered his workout complete only when it led to some pumping action.

 

The bodybuilder listed down his style of workout. Although he usually did not work heavily, he would make sure to exercise for around an hour. His routine consisted of three sets of all exercises, where he would gradually build up his resistance. However, one thing remained constant throughout these exercises – the way he felt toward the end.

According to Zane, workouts should always provide a ‘pump’ in the end. His goal would always be to get a pump at the end of the workout. If not, the workout probably didn’t work out! He explained“you got to get blood into the area. So whatever gave me a pump that’s what I would do”.

Frank Zane is a bodybuilding legend not only due to his titles but also because of his attitude toward exercising. The champion curated various routines throughout his life that suited him and his body. Even when he grew old and could no longer perform the same exercises as he used to, he still tweaked his way around. He knew how essential it was to keep the body in shape.
