Bodybuilders are humongous and hefty by nature. It’s what the sport is about, after all. However, some bodybuilders have such big and hulky frames that they put all others to shame. Mike O’Hearn is arguably one of the biggest bodybuilders that American bodybuilding has ever seen. His tall frame in addition to his bulging muscles makes him an absolute monster bodybuilder. But what raised the eyebrows of the veteran bodybuilder was the capped physique of a high school metal band artist.
Craig Golias, with his highly tall and muscular figure, shocked Mike O’Hearn. During Episode 38 of The Mike O’Hearn Show published on Generation Iron‘s YouTube channel on March 24, 2023, the two giants of the bodybuilding world were in a conversation with one another, and some interesting things came up.

Looking at Golias, one would think that he has been a bodybuilder since he was in his cradle. But in reality, Craig Golias chanced upon the world of bodybuilding much later than bodybuilders normally do. In the interview, Golias revealed, “I didn’t start working out until I was 20.” To which, Mike O’Hearn in a shocked tone replied, “You started late.” Golias stated that he was a “late bloomer.” O’Hearn wanted to know, “Why so late?”
Craig Golias explained, “When I was in high school I wasn’t like a jock or into working out. I was more of like a metalhead, you know. I was in a bunch of metal bands and I was like a musician, you know… So I wasn’t the high school jock like you, you know. I got into bodybuilding… it happened later.” O’Hearn, astounded by Golias’ gigantic physique, exclaimed, “And boy, did you! Geez Louise, you’re a monster of a human.”
The astonishment is natural, given the fact that Craig Golias stands at the looming height of 6’3″ and weighs 350 pounds. The man is a behemoth, and it is scarce to see bodybuilders so tall who have such a pumped physique. But there’s more.
Golias also talked about his secret behind maintaining his formidable X-frame physique.

The importance of having an X-frame for Golias
O’Hearn and Golias are almost the same height, and in reality, they look even larger than they do in photos or videos. In the interview with Mike O’Hearn, Craig Golias said, “There are barely any bodybuilders at that height; it doesn’t really exist. Most bodybuilders are 5’6 to 5’10.” Before the advent of COVID-19, Golias had reached his highest weight ever, 360 pounds. He revealed, “I was so big, it was uncomfortable, but people freaked out; they loved seeing it.”

For Golias, a tapered waist that gives the appearance of an X-frame is the essence of bodybuilding. Craig Golias does not only aim for bulk. He is of the opinion that in bodybuilding, having an aesthetic figure is as important as having a huge one. Golias has certainly maintained the ideal figure he strives for. Even at 340 pounds, and supporting a lot of muscle mass, his body does not lack in aesthetics.
