Ronnie Coleman has been the undisputed king of bodybuilding. The King’s incredible physique during his peak stunned every judge, every competitor, and the audience every time he stepped on the stage. But it all wouldn’t have been possible without Coleman’s biggest angel. In the latest YouTube video on his channel, Coleman spoke with 2022 Mr. Olympia runner-up, Derek Lunsford. Coleman and Lunsford talked about the impact of other people in their lives and how they influenced their careers.

As the former 212 Mr. Olympia champion spoke about his current coach, Hany Rambod, the 8X Mr. O also disclosed his gratitude towards his biggest angel that changed the tangent of his life.

Ronnie Coleman had a tough time finding a job after his college. Even after being good in accounts, he wasn’t able to find a good source of income until he became a police officer in 1989. Although he was already pretty fit, being a police officer made him more concerned about his physique. And that is when he made an accidental entry into bodybuilding, and too, just to get a free gym subscription. Who knew that would change the bodybuilding world?

As Coleman said while chatting with Lunsford, “God put as many angels in our lives. Many things that we couldn’t do for ourselves.” And it was Coleman’s biggest angel who saw a bodybuilder in him, even when he didn’t. While speaking about that, Coleman said, “My biggest angel was Brian Dobson himself that got me started and you know, got me into bodybuilding, taught me how to train as one, taught me how to pose, pretty much taught me everything I needed to know. And the most important thing he did for me was, uh, introduced me to my calling for being here on this earth.”

The King believes in the concept of a purpose in people’s life. He promotes people to find their purpose if they want to fall in love with their lives instead of just passing the time. Coleman continued, “Because I always tell people God put us here for a reason. He didn’t put us here just to be here.” The bodybuilding legend reveals his gratification towards Dobson, as he disclosed that initially, he did not see bodybuilding as a career. According to Coleman, his career was being a police officer for around fifteen years, and bodybuilding was his calling.

Coleman’s first achievement following his purpose

Ronnie Coleman’s life was getting better as he joined the police. However, the calling wasn’t supposed to be just missed. Coleman kept competing, and for the initial five years, he did not even come close to Mr. Olympia’s title. However, the perseverance paid off in 1998, and he won his 1st Mr. Olympia title and further won 7 more, making the title count to eight.
