Being in the public purview 24/7 is not an easy task, especially for a big name like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Time and again, he always found himself amidst a heap of responsibilities. Having reached great heights, the expectations are not just restricted to himself. As the former Mr. Olympia sat for an interview with Piers Morgan in 2007, he shared how difficult it is for his kids to grow up under such big names and in such situations.

The bodybuilding sensation, investor, politician, and actor enjoys a massive fan following. The expectations are always high from him, but it’s not just Arnold who gets burdened with the “expectation.” Even his kids sometimes have to live up to the moments. Reflecting upon it, the Terminator star once opened up.

Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his perspective

As the question, “Have your kids had much trouble being the offspring of Arnold Schwarzenegger?” was shot, the ex-California Governor gave his honest reply. Negating any signs of ‘possible trouble,’ Arnold hints that they enjoy both the advantages and disadvantages. Though, as he reveals, they sometimes “get preferential treatment,” but the “pressure of having to live up to the success of their parents” can not be dismissed.

Talking about his kids, he added how they sometimes keep “wondering if we are going to be disappointed.” However, as he adds, they are quick to “reassure them that if they study hard,” they will “support them in whatever they want to do.” Arnie says they support his kids regardless of what they want to be or achieve.

Putting a rest to the query for once and for all, the father of five said, “If they want to be a nurse or a billionaire, it’s great either way, and they’ll get the same support from us.” Growing up under a strict father, Arnold thus always knew what wonders discipline and dedication could do in one’s life. Therefore, taking only the positive pointers from his dad, he, too, attempts to preach to his kids the importance of hard work.

Arnold finds a way to inspire kids to stay fit 

Being a fitness freak, Arnold encourages his youngest son Christopher to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Extending his hand to help others, back in 2018, Arnold shared his wisdom with Men’s Health to help the youth understand the relevance of health. Being a father himself, his first pointer was to make the process fun. Brushing away multiple myths, the bodybuilding champion encourages young kids to try their hand at weightlifting.

Drawing parallels from his childhood, Arnold revealed that his father would encourage him to do push-ups before he could play. Though he points out that the method may not work for all, he urged parents to create games with built-in incentives. He also advised them to interact with their kids.
