2022 was not the year for William Bonac. Finishing the Mr. Olympia 2022 in ninth place, the bodybuilder has already redeemed last year’s performance at this year’s 2023 Arnold Classic. Sitting for a podcast with Giles Thomas, Bonac, in detail, discussed his 2023 Arnold Classic prep. Talking about his health struggles, the bodybuilding star talked about managing his preparation by taking his health into concern.

A former champion, Bonac talked about how he had to take a drastic step to make sure his participation in the 2023 Arnold Classic is not compromised.

Talking about his deteriorating health, he stated how he had stopped taking his oral pills. For those unversed, Bonac has been suffering an inflamed kidney. Thankfully, as he revealed, the situation was not severe, and as a preventive measure, he was prescribed medication. However, because of his preparation, he wasn’t able to take the medicines.

But prioritizing health, Bonac decided to stop using steroids too. Reflecting on it, he said, “So right now, like my whole prep that I’m doing, I’m not even taking orals. Yes, no orals. Just to save myself and not to make it worse.” Thus, prioritizing both his health and passion, Bonac is trying to strike the right balance.

For Bonac to finish at the ninth spot was a “hard pill to swallow.” Making sure to find a place in the top six always, the former Arnold Classic winner was a little disappointed. However, he is gone past those days and now prefers to focus more on the future.
