Out of all the bodybuilders present in the world, fans regard Arnold Schwarzenegger as the finest on the planet. He is one of the greatest athletes of all time, winning over seven Mr. Olympia titles and several Mr. Universe titles. After that, he moved on to acting and became one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. But, it all started with the Mr. Olympia shows. However, he is not the one with the most titles.

That title goes to Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman. The duo has won eight Mr. Olympia titles and shares the place on top of the podium. Haney was the first person to break Arnold’s record. He won eight successive Mr. Olympia titles from 1984 to 91 to break Schwarzenegger’s beloved record. Knowing Arnold’s competitiveness, he recalled when he knew about the record-breaking moment.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was in shock!
By dethroning him from the top, Lee Haney won eight Mr. Olympia titles, and later on, Ronnie Coleman tied that record. On hearing it for the first time, Arnold described his two feelings. He said, “You know, you have two feelings. One of them you feel like, okay. Someone has broken the record. But still, inside you, there’s a part that says, ‘Sh**’! What the hell is happening?”
To be on top for a long time and then some other bodybuilder takes your place must hurt Arnold because he paved the way for new generations to take up the sport. Despite winning seven, he remains on top of the charts for a unique physique. However, he showcases his lighter side during some moments. Arnold acknowledged Haney’s work towards achieving the goal and gave him a fitting toast.
Explaining his feelings, he said, “And in a sense, it was one of those moments but then there is of course also the moment of joy because I have known Lee for all these years and I have known the struggle that he went through, year after year. It is really hard to stay on top of the game.”

Bodybuilding for 25 years, Haney achieved greatness with his chiseled physique. After retiring from the sport, Haney works with various world-class athletes and acts as a trainer. He’s been serving as a member of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports since December 1998. He is probably the best in business.
