Chris had been training tirelessly for Mr. Olympia 2022, the most prestigious bodybuilding competition in the world. However, just a few days before the competition, he felt a pain in his bicep that kept increasing as the ‘Big Day’ approached. On the day of the competition, CBum found that he had torn his bicep. The news left him devastated and shook his confidence.

However, Chris didn’t give up and turned up to the event as the injury wasn’t horrible. In an interview with the Full Send Podcast, he revealed that he was anxious as the thought of not being able to compete was crushing. “I didn’t have the confidence of the champion that day”, he said. Seeing the reigning champion running low on confidence, his coach stepped up and took the responsibility of giving him the push start.

Hany knew exactly what to say to motivate. “What the f*ck is wrong with you man. Smile up there, relax, you are the champ, walk as you own it.”, he told the champion. Hany reminded Chris that bodybuilding is not just about physical strength, but mental strength as well. Hany’s tough words helped Chris to stay motivated and focused, despite the setback. Chris took Hany’s words to heart and went on the stage and rest, as they say, is the history.

The impact of the bicep tear wasn’t just limited to how Cbum looked but also had a serious effect on his mental health. When Chris tore his bicep, his devastation reached the point where he had a minor breakdown in the washroom. In an Instagram post after the contest, Cbum acknowledged, “I kinda had one of my Cbum moments in the bathroom, crying. I got on my knees in front of this mirror in this private bathroom and I looked at myself and I was like, ‘What’s going on man?”
