In the early 70s, the Austrian oak migrated from his homeland to the States “to accomplish something big”. Interestingly, his passion for bodybuilding led him to achieve the reverent trophy of Mr. Universe at the age of just 20. The next thing we know, Schwarzenegger is winning hearts all over the nation, and becoming a bodybuilding sensation. However, after achieving a treasure trove of plaudits in the bodybuilding arena, Schwarzenegger decided to follow his passion to become an actor. Nevertheless, Arnie’s beginning in the Hollywood entertainment industry was a bit of a roller coaster.

Arnold Schwarzenegger got rejected for his physique

In 2013, the Austrian Oak visited his homeland for the launch of his book ‘Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life story’. Moreover, the bodybuilder appeared in a press conference at Google’s headquarters in Venice, where he profoundly chatted about his journey of becoming Hollywood’s favorite. 

The terminator revealed that when he set foot into Hollywood, he asked for the leading role. On this, folks in the film industry said to him, “Look at the way you look-250 pounds, you look like a monster”. Nonetheless, many even asked him that “What kind of actress will want to work with you?”

However, it was not only his physique but also his accent for which he initially faced pushback from the entertainment industry. However, challenging all the criticism, Schwarzenegger worked his way up with “pure will and force”. In no time, he rose to become Hollywood’s favorite action superstar.

Schwarzenegger made it into Hollywood

Rejections didn’t shake Schwarzenegger’s will to make it big in Hollywood. With the 1976 movie, ‘Stay Hungry’, Arnie kick-started his journey in the film industry. Following Bob Rafelson’s Stay Hungry, the Austrian Oak featured in the 1977 superhit film, ‘Pumping Iron’. Since then, the legend has been unstoppable. With the movies like the Terminator, Predator, and Commando, Arnie became Hollywood’s most prominent personality.

For his acting metier, he even received many prestigious accolades including awards like Emmy and Bambi. All in all, the bodybuilder indeed had a spectacular journey of making it big in Hollywood.
