Eight-time Mr. Olympia, Ronnie Coleman earned his pro card more than three decades ago. The fact that he has been involved in the sport when the current generation of bodybuilders were still kids or not even born, speaks for his invaluable expertise. Moreover, he was associated with numerous bodybuilding greats. One of them is the esteemed coach, Hany Rambod. 

In a recent interview from Ronnie Coleman Signature Series, on YouTube, the former icon elucidated his tight bond with Rambod, back in his days. Talking to 2022 Mr. Olympia Runner Up, Derek Lunsford, the athlete gave us a first-hand glimpse of his fondest memory with the star coach.

The interview featured Lunsford as the star guest alongside the 58-year-old host. He enquired about the young athlete’s plans for this year. Hence, the latter enthusiastically revealed, “The man himself… Hani Rambod!” Supplementing his excitement, Coleman decided to share an age-old anecdote involving The Pro Creator. “I’ll tell you about the watch he helped me to get back on one of our cruises,” he said.

The G.O.A.T claimed that they share a close-knit bond and often spent leisurely times together. Thus, he added, “I used to always hang out back in the day. We’re good friends, and we used to go on cruises together.” Besides that, the 5’11” athlete stated there were numerous occasions when he even “stayed at his house.” A significant revelation disclosed that Coleman was fortunate enough to get his first biggest contract because of Rambod. “Hani is actually the guy that got me my…first biggest contract ever with one of those supplement companies back in the day,” The King shared.

Even Lunsford chimed in saying, “He’s a good man…first of all he’s got 22 Mr. Olympia victories under his belt, his track record speaks for himself, along with that, he’s a great mentor.” Similarly, another of Coleman’s friendship chronicles featured seven-time Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath.

In an Instagram post last month, the 315-lbs star athlete featured with his buddy, Phil Heath. Moreover, the former dedicated the post to their long years of companionship with a heartfelt note. “Always good running into 7 X Mr. Olympia champ Phil Heath. Phil always has been a real good friend even before he won or competed in the Mr. Olympia. He was right there with me in my room when I won my 8th Mr. Olympia. #yeahbuddy”

The duo posed for a picture, smiling to their ears. An iconic moment for the bodybuilding world. Heath acknowledged the legend’s tribute with his own message. “You have been my goal. Not just the muscles but the Man you are. You’re the only one that will make me run literally to grab a pic!!! Much love Champ!,” the IFBB pro wrote.
