Chris Bumstead has established himself as the king of the Classic Physique division. The reigning champion has won the Mr. Olympia Classic Physique title four times consecutively. However, simply winning titles didn’t make Bumstead a fan favorite. The bodybuilding star constantly interacts with his massive fanbase through social media and is always transparent with them. Fans also love ‘CBum’ because he remains humble despite his immense success.
At the Arnold Classic 2023, the Canadian bodybuilder proved how humble he is. When the mother of a fan approached him instead of letting security drive her away, Bumstead chose to hear her out.

TikTok user @ck.liftsweights shared a video with the caption “POV: your friend’s mom meets cbum on the street.” The video begins with a lady who approaches Chris Bumstead, who is flanked by security personnel. The woman had brought her 16-year-old son to meet with the four-time Classic Physique champion. However, for undisclosed reasons he couldn’t meet Bumstead.
The woman said her son’s name was “Jacob Michael. I brought him here for his 16th birthday.” Bumstead understood the woman was trying to film a short video for her son’s birthday and so he obliged. “Happy Birthday Jacob. Pretty upset I couldn’t meet you,” said the champion bodybuilder. “Hope you have a great birthday and hope you do well man,” added Bumstead.
However, the entire conversation wouldn’t have been possible if Chris Bumstead didn’t wish to hear what the woman had to say. In fact, the moment she got close, one of the security personnel tried to stop the woman. “No filming,” he said and tried to take the phone away. However, the humble champion stopped the man and said, “No she’s fine,” and heard what the woman had to say.

It’s evident from the video TikTok user @ck.liftsweights posted that despite his success, Bumstead doesn’t have an ego. Fans also appreciated Bumstead’s gesture for the birthday boy.
Being real with the fans
The four-time Mr. Olympia Classic Physique champion also doesn’t mislead his nearly 19 million (overall) social media followers. Last year in one of his YouTube videos, Bumstead openly talked about steroid use. While many bodybuilders have talked about steroid use, Bumstead is one of the few who spoke of prioritizing health over winning titles.
